Neon gradients seemed tacky until I designed a logo for a retro cafe
I always thought neon gradients were tacky and overused. Then, I got a project for a retro themed cafe that needed a vibrant logo. I checked out some 80s design inspo, like old arcade cabinets and VHS covers. The bold color mixes in those designs actually had a cool, energetic vibe. So, I tried a neon gradient from pink to blue for the cafe's sign. It turned out great and the client loved it. Now, I'm not so quick to dismiss bright color blends.
