My 8 year old straight up said mom this sauce tastes like tomato water and I was mad but she was right. I started simmering my sauce for an extra 20 minutes with the lid off and it got way thicker and richer tasting. Has anyone else had a family member call them out on a cooking habit that actually made you better?
Was at the grocery store yesterday trying to figure out which ham was actually the better deal. The store brand was $5.99 for 8 ounces and the name brand was $8.49 for 12 ounces but my brain just could not do the math. Then I looked down and saw the price per ounce in tiny print at the bottom of the shelf tag. Made my decision in like 10 seconds. Has anyone else been sleeping on those unit price labels for way too long?
I used to just grab whatever fast food sandwich was closest when I was working near the industrial part of town. Then about two years ago I stopped at this little Shell station on 12th Street in Columbus because I was low on gas and starving. They had a cold case with subs wrapped in plastic for like $4.99 each. I grabbed one thinking it would be sad and dry but it was actually packed with meat and fresh veggies. It beat the $9 drive thru mess I usually got and took half the time. Now I check every gas station I pass for their deli section because you never know where you will find a real deal. Anyone else got a weird spot like a gas station or bodega that changed how you do lunch?
