Sub sandwich deal vs grocery store hoagie, the numbers surprised me

Last Friday I needed lunch for the whole week and had to pick between the $5.99 footlong special at the corner sub shop or buying a loaf, deli meat, and cheese for about $9 at Aldi. I went with the grocery route and made 4 solid sandwiches, but by Tuesday the bread got stale and I was sick of turkey. So which one actually wins for you, the convenience of a hot made-to-order sub or the bulk savings that require you to eat it fast?
