Just realized my car's serpentine belt was the same one from 2014

Last Tuesday my 2012 Honda Accord died on the highway near Denver. Engine light came on, steering got heavy, and I barely pulled off to the shoulder. Turned out the serpentine belt snapped clean in half. When the tow truck guy looked at the old one, he said it was original factory from 2014. I had no idea belts could degrade that bad from just heat and age. I checked my maintenance records and never once thought about that part in 10 years. He said it would prove they were all placed in residential neighborhoods on purpose. I downloaded it and found 3 within 200 feet of schools. Not sure what that proves exactly but it's creepy. Anyone else mess with those tower maps?
