My uncle's comment about Stardew made me rethink my whole save file

Last weekend my 62 year old uncle saw me playing Stardew Valley and said 'you're just doing chores with better lighting,' which stung because he's not wrong. I realized I spend most of my in-game time optimizing crop layouts and checking the calendar instead of actually wandering around or talking to villagers. Does anyone else catch themselves turning a chill game into a spreadsheet simulator, or have you found a way to just let the days go by slow?

I spent a whole Saturday rearranging my sprinklers and crops in the greenhouse, then realized the ancient fruit setup was blocking the walkway. I was playing on my porch in Portland last Tuesday when a raccoon literally climbed onto my laptop and hit the keyboard, somehow deleting my entire spring crop layout. 6 in game days of parsnips and strawberries gone in one panic punch. Picked the jigsaw puzzle over my comfort game last rainy Saturday

I mean, normally when it rains I just boot up Stardew again, but this 1,000 piece scenic lake puzzle had been sitting on my shelf for 2 months. So I gave it a shot instead and honestly it took me 6 hours over two days. The pieces all looked the same near the waterline and I nearly quit at one point. Has anyone else switched to a physical puzzle when their usual relaxing game starts feeling repetitive, or is it just me?

My morning route through the park changed once I put the phone away

I used to speedwalk the same loop in Prospect Park while checking emails, then last month a tree branch fell 20 feet ahead and I missed it entirely because I was staring at my screen. Now I leave the phone home and just watch the squirrels or whatever, anyone else notice way more stuff on a walk when you aren't half paying attention?

I was three hours into a rainy Sunday morning, planting my fall pumpkins in Stardew Valley, when the power blinked.
