Pro tip: the tea cozy trick that saved my cracked book spines
I'm a hardcore page folder, I admit it. But I got tired of my favorite paperbacks developing those ugly crease cracks down the spine after one read. Tried those fancy book weights, nope. Tried holding the book differently, nope. Then my aunt in Portland told me to wrap a thick wool tea cozy around the spine while I read. Keeps the book warm and flexible, the glue doesn't dry out and snap. I tested it on a $9 thrift store copy of a 600 page fantasy novel, read the whole thing in 4 days, zero cracks. Has anyone else tried something similar? My aunt swears by an old sock but that seems gross.
