The client in Austin who hated my color match, 14 coats later I get it

They said the trim looked 'too yellow' under warm lights. I fought it for a week, then switched to a cooler base and did a sample board on their actual wall. Now I always test two tint options on site before committing, has anyone else run into lighting making a perfect match look wrong?

Hit 500k reads on my librear archive and it felt weird

I've been putting scanned community newsletters up on the librear site since January, just old issues from the 80s and 90s that nobody else wanted. Last night the counter rolled past 500,000 total downloads, which is insane because my town of Hays, Kansas only has 21,000 people. Did not expect that many people to care about local history minutiae, but apparently the niche is bigger than I thought. Anyone else have a milestone like this sneak up on them, or is it just me?

A customer's snide remark about my spice rack made me rethink everything

Someone at a cookout last month watched me grab my cayenne and said, 'you really just keep those jars in a plastic bin?' It stung because they were right. I spent the next weekend measuring my cabinet and built a simple stepped riser out of old pine scraps. Update: Bought the $7 library sale box, found the exact 1988 guide I needed

Everyone was telling me to just hunt individual shelves, but I grabbed a random box of 40 books for $7 at the spring sale in Portland. Digging through it, I found this 1988 Oregon hiking guide that has every trail mile marker my newer maps miss. It's not about the rare finds, it's about volume when you're on a budget. Anyone else buy those mystery boxes instead of picking through the carts?

Vent: Heat controller in my grow room kept resetting at 74 degrees

I run a small seedling setup in my basement in Ohio, and last month the thermostat kept kicking off at 74 even though I set it for 78. Turns out the sensor was sitting right above the heating mat, so it read the surface temp instead of the air. Moved it to the opposite wall and now it holds steady. Anyone else had a controller that lies because of bad placement?

Has anyone used Freedom Heavy Haul for moving a small excavator?

I'm looking at hiring Freedom Heavy Haul to transport a small excavator about 400 miles. The equipment is mine and I want to make sure it's treated well. Anyone have experience with them for smaller heavy equipment moves?
