Shower thought: My $40 moisture meter beats the $300 one my contractor swears by

I tested both on the same studs in my Reno basement last weekend and the cheap one gave readings that matched my actual drywall pop tests way better. Anyone else find that the fancy gear is more about making the person holding it feel smart than giving real data?

My buddy dropped $600 on a torque wrench for his bikes and it sits in the drawer while his $30 beam style one gets used every time.
