Rented a tile saw that cost me double in water damage

Rented a wet tile saw from the big box store for $65. Did my bathroom floor in two days. Three weeks later my subfloor started buckling. Water seeped through every cut I made because I was too generous with the spray. The floor guy said I needed to let the cuts dry and seal immediately. $1,200 in repairs later, I'll just buy a snap cutter next time. Anyone else lose money on rental equipment?

Yeah but a snap cutter won't do everything a wet saw does. Porcelain and big format tiles will eat those cheap snappers alive. You'd have been better off just using a manual cutter plus a cheap angle grinder for the tricky cuts.

Did you even check if the rental saw had some kind of drip tray or collection system under the work area? I always thought those wet saws just dump water everywhere, but my buddy told me some of the nicer ones come with a little pan that catches most of it. Seems like that could've saved you a lot of trouble if you'd known to look for it.
