Rented a tile saw instead of buying one, best $57 I spent last spring

I was dead set on buying my own wet saw for a bathroom floor project, thinking renting was a waste. After 3 days with the Husqvarna from Home Depot, I realized I didn't need one cluttering my garage for the next decade. Anyone else find renting tools actually saves more than they thought?

The Husqvarna saw at my local Home Depot was $38 for 4 hours, which was just enough to cut 60 tiles for my kitchen backsplash. I also priced out buying a cheap one on Amazon for $120, and it would have taken up half my workbench for months. Rentals make sense for stuff you'll use once, but I draw the line at things like a good drill or impact driver that get regular use. A lot of people forget to factor in storage space and the hassle of maintaining tools you barely touch.

Went in on a big compressor with my neighbor for fence work and realized half the stuff we thought we needed we only touch once every few years.
