I finally stopped fighting with my miter saw stand after 2 years

Took me forever to realize I was setting up my saw backwards on the stand. I always had the fence facing away from me thinking it would give me more room for long boards. Then a buddy came over last week to help with some crown molding and he just looked at me funny and flipped the whole thing around. The difference was instant. My cuts went from always being a bit off to actually square. I guess I just assumed my technique was the problem when really I was fighting the tool setup the whole time. Has anyone else had that moment where you realize you've been using a tool backwards or wrong for way too long?

Now you're just making excuses for not reading the manual in the first place.

Listen, I've been there and sometimes you just gotta figure it out as you go. Just skim the troubleshooting section next time, it saves a headache.
