Had to rip out my bathroom floor twice in one month

I tiled my 5x8 bathroom last month and the grout started cracking within a week. Turns out I didn't use enough backer board screws and the whole floor had flex. Had to rent a tile saw from Home Depot in Nashville and pull everything up, then redo it with proper screw spacing every 6 inches. Second time around it held solid, but I wasted about $120 on materials I couldn't reuse. Any of you had to redo a project that should have been simple?

Man that's rough but honestly I've noticed this pattern in a lot of home projects where the first time you do something it's basically a practice run. I think the real issue is we all watch a few YouTube videos and think that's enough, but there's always some little detail like screw spacing or moisture barrier that you don't catch until it breaks. I did the same thing with a patio paver project last year, laid the whole thing out only to realize I didn't compact the base right. Had to pull everything up, rent a compactor, and start from scratch. Seems like every project has that one hidden gotcha that costs you time and money.

Kinda makes you wonder how many things we're all just doing for the first time in life and calling it 'experience' later.
