Who else has noticed that customers are way nicer when you say 'no problem' instead of 'you're welcome'?
I worked the register at a hardware store in Toledo for about 3 years, and last month I started paying attention to how people react to different closing lines. When I say 'no problem' after helping someone find a part, they usually nod and walk off happy. When I say 'you're welcome,' sometimes I get a weird look like I was being sarcastic. It's the smallest thing but it changes the whole vibe of the exchange for me. Has anyone else played around with how they sign off with people, and did it actually make a difference?
