Warning: don't let customers watch you open the register at a gas station
I was working night shift at a Shell station in Phoenix when a guy asked me to break a $100 for a pack of gum, and as soon as I popped the drawer he reached over the counter and grabbed $300 out of it. I slammed the drawer on his wrist and yelled for my manager, but he ran out before cops even got there. Has anyone else dealt with customers trying to reach over the counter on purpose?

That's a classic bait-and-reach move. Keep that drawer locked tight until the cash is in hand and no fingers are close. People will test you over pocket change these days.
