Vent: A customer told me my 'have a great day' sounded like a robot and now I'm overthinking my whole goodbye script.
After that comment in my drive-thru lane last month, I started mixing it up with stuff like 'hope your afternoon is smooth' or 'take it easy out there,' but has anyone else gotten weirdly specific feedback on their tone?

Honestly that person was just being rude for no reason... you're saying a nice thing and they chose to pick it apart. Customers say weird stuff sometimes, you can't let it get to you.

Wait a month ago and you're still thinking about it? That's wild. Some people just have to find something to complain about. Calling you a robot for being nice is next level rude. Your new phrases sound totally fine, way more personal anyway. Don't let one weirdo mess up your whole vibe.

...and honestly it reminds me of this time I was at a gas station and the guy behind me in line got super mad because I held the door open for someone. Like he literally started yelling about how I was being "too nice" and it was fake or something. Some people just have this weird thing where they can't handle basic kindness, they think there has to be some hidden motive. My brother told me later that guy probably just had a bad day and took it out on me, but ngl it stuck with me for way longer than it should have.
