Tried a 30 day return window at my old electronics store and it backfired in the weirdest way
I used to work the counter at a small electronics shop in Boise, and our return policy was 14 days. After a bunch of complaints, my manager bumped it to 30 days as a test last spring. I figured we'd get more sales, maybe some returns, no big deal. But in the first month, returns went from about 12 a week to 31 a week, and half of them were things people clearly used for a weekend trip and brought back. One guy returned a drone with sand in every crevice and said it "didn't fly right." I learned that a longer window doesn't build trust, it just gives people a free rental service. Has anyone else seen a policy change backfire like that?
