I worked at a fast food place in Phoenix for two years, and the timer they used to track our drive-thru was always yelling at us. One day I noticed that if I tucked the receipt printer paper under the timer display, it blocked the red light but still let me hear the beep. That small hack made the whole shift feel less stressful, and my crew started doing it too. Anyone else found a way to tune out the pressure without breaking the rules?

That paper trick is genius. Honestly the red light is half the stress, it makes your brain go into panic mode even when you're doing fine. I used to just turn the whole monitor away from me but then the manager would flip it back. Your way is sneakier and way better. Wrapping a little tape around the speaker hole works too, keeps the beep but makes it softer. Little hacks like that are the only reason anyone survives that job.
