Had a customer last Tuesday scream at me because their coupon expired at midnight and it was 12:01 AM

I work the overnight shift at a grocery store in Phoenix. This lady rolls up with a cart full of stuff at 12:01 AM on a Wednesday. Her coupon said it expired Tuesday. She starts yelling that I should have known she was coming and held it for her. Manager came over and just took the coupon anyway. Does your store ever make exceptions for expired stuff or do you stick to the rules?

Are we supposed to have a working crystal ball now for every late-night coupon user? lmao. I swear some people think the register has a "make an exception because I'm special" button hidden somewhere. Yeah, my store would totally fold too, managers hate dealing with screaming customers at 1 AM so they just cave. Makes it worse for the rest of us who actually have to enforce the rules the next day though. I guess the coupon technically expired at midnight, but common sense should tell you that's a cutoff time, not a suggestion lol.

Is it really that hard to just honor the obvious intent of a coupon, @lewis.mila?
