DAE think the 'customer is always right' rule is trash? I started saying no and got way less stressed
I work at a hardware store in Tulsa and for a while I bent over backwards for every rude person who walked in. Last month a guy screamed at me over a $3 return, so I just calmly said I could not help him and walked to the next customer. My manager backed me up, and I swear the whole shift felt lighter. Has anyone else tried just politely refusing the crazy ones?
Did you notice how the stress mostly came from holding in your reaction instead of the actual customer? When you stop treating every complaint like a test you have to pass, you stop carrying it around after your shift ends. The hard part is staying calm while you do it, but once you get that down the job gets a whole lot easier.
