My cousin said my 90 hour farm in Stardew is 'not a cozy game anymore' and I keep thinking about it
So my cousin came over for dinner last weekend and saw me playing Stardew Valley on the couch, and she asked how many hours I had in it. I said around 90, and she kind of laughed and said that sounds less like a cozy game and more like a second job. At first I brushed it off, but then I noticed my chest was tight because I was three days behind on my keg schedule and my greenhouse crops were about to die. She doesn't really play games at all, she knits, and she said the whole point of her hobby is that nothing bad happens if she skips a night. That got me. I started Animal Crossing during the pandemic and played every single day for 400 hours because I was scared of my villagers leaving, and that is not relaxing, that is an obligation with cute graphics. Now I'm wondering how many of you have a comfort game that turned into a checklist you're scared to break. What's your cutoff, like when does a cozy game stop feeling cozy for you?
