Hot take: spending $80 on a good fire extinguisher for my apartment was a waste or a lifesaver?

I dropped $80 on this big Kidde extinguisher after my buddy said his brother's place almost went up from a grease fire. Now it's just sitting under my sink taking up space. Part of me thinks it's dumb luck I haven't needed it, but the other part says it's peace of mind. Anyone else fork over cash for safety stuff and feel like you're just feeding a fear machine?

Insurance companies love seeing it in the kitchen.

Wait, is that because kitchen fires are a huge claim or are they that specific about where you mount a fire extinguisher? @thea692 really got me wondering now.

Sit down before you read this because I almost fell off my chair when I found out. @corad84 they literally denied a guy's claim because his extinguisher was mounted on the pantry wall instead of inside the kitchen by the stove. Makes you wonder how many other little rules they're hiding in the fine print.
