A guy on a forum said my "chemtrail" photos were just lens flare, and after 2 months of shooting I finally checked
So about 6 months back I got really into photographing planes and what I thought were spray patterns over my town in Ohio. I posted a few shots in a conspiracy group and this older guy named Dave kept saying the weird streaks were just lens flare from my cheap 18-55 kit lens. I brushed him off hard because I was sure I was seeing something real. Well, last month I finally got a used prime lens and shot the same sky, same time of day, from my driveway. Almost every "trail" I had been documenting for weeks showed up way less or not at all, and the few that stayed lined up exactly with the sun's position. I went back through my older pics and yep, the streaks were all in that same angle to the light. Felt kind of dumb, but honestly it was a good lesson in checking your own gear before blaming the sky. Now I'm wondering how many of those blurry videos people post are just phones with scratched lenses. Anyone else here ever had their whole theory fall apart because of camera stuff?
