Walked into Taco Bell thinking I'd drop $10, left with a full meal for $3.50

I always ignored the value menu because I figured the portions would be tiny. Then last Tuesday I was dead broke between paychecks and had to make it work. Ordered a cheesy bean and rice burrito and a side of nachos from the cravings menu. Total came to $3.42 after tax and I was stuffed. The burrito was bigger than I expected and actually had decent flavor. Now I'm kicking myself for all those years of buying combo meals for no reason. Has anyone else found a hidden cheap item at a fast food place that changed how you order?

Walked into Taco Bell thinking I'd drop $10" - that part got me. Reminds me of when I discovered the spicy chicken sandwich at Wendy's before they changed their menu. It was like $2.49 and came with lettuce and tomato and I'd get two of them and a small frosty and be set for like $6. Then they took it off the menu and I was so mad I almost wrote to corporate but never did. Now I just stick with the junior bacon cheeseburger when I'm there but it's not the same.

Oh man, the Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich was my go to for years. I remember driving 15 minutes out of my way to the one that still had it after they started phasing it out. There was this one cashier named Brenda who knew my order and would start making it when she saw my car pull in. Then one day I showed up and she told me they were done with it. I literally sat in the parking lot for five minutes just staring at the menu trying to figure out what else to get. I tried the spicy chicken wrap thing they replaced it with but it was just dry shredded chicken in a tortilla. Now when I go to Wendy's I just get the baked potato with sour cream and chives and a small chili which is like $4 and kinda feels like a sad compromise.
