The 99 cent store burrito that beat my $12 lunch spot
I stopped by the 99 Cent Only store in Fresno last Tuesday out of pure curiosity, not expecting much. They had these frozen burritos in a plain white wrapper, no brand I'd ever heard of, 2 for a dollar. I figured worst case I'd toss it, but that thing was legit, actually had decent filling and didn't taste like cardboard. Meanwhile I dropped $12 at a taqueria down the street the day before and got way less food. It got me thinking about how we assume price equals quality, but sometimes the sketchy aisle has the real winners. Has anyone else stumbled on a budget item that completely outdid a sit-down or fancier option? I'm trying to find more of these hidden gems in my area.

Man I used to think cheap food was always nasty but that burrito sounds like it actually hit.
