Overheard a kid at the drive-thru say '$5 for a burger? That's crazy' and it hit me how bad inflation has warped our sense of normal.
I remember back in 2015 grabbing a McDouble for a buck and walking out with change, so when did $5 become the baseline for a basic fast food lunch where you at?

Do you remember when a value menu actually meant something? I swear I could get a full meal for under four bucks just a few years ago and now you're lucky if a single sandwich doesn't break five. The REAL kicker for me was last week when I ordered a simple chicken sandwich combo and the total came out to almost eleven dollars. I just stood there at the counter staring at the screen like an idiot for a good ten seconds. Inflation hit fast food HARD and I feel like nobody warned us it was coming so fast.
