Lost $23 on a Kroger flash sale because the app marked my pickup for the wrong store
Last Tuesday I grabbed 6 packs of chicken thighs for $1.99 a pound through the Kroger app, but it sent the order to a location 14 miles away instead of the one near my house. By the time I drove over there, the pickup window had closed and they said the sale price didn't carry over, so I ate the full $23. How do you all handle app glitches on these grocery deals without wasting a trip?
The part about the app sending it to a store 14 miles away is the real problem here, and it is not just a fluke. Kroger picks your default store from whatever store you shopped at last time, or sometimes from your phone's GPS if you have location turned on. If you ever stopped at a different Kroger while running errands, that store can quietly become your new "home" store and every flash sale order goes there. Before you pay, look at the store name right under the cart total, not the one in the banner at the top of the screen. Those two can show different stores, which is maddening. I would also call the store you actually picked from before you drive anywhere, because the pickup person can sometimes move the order to the right store if the sale is still live.
