Just realized my grandfather's butcher block is 74 years old and never once got sanded
I was reading a 2019 interview with a block maker in Cincinnati who said most home blocks get ruined in the first 2 years from people soaking them in the sink, which made me look at Pop's old maple and it's still dead flat after 74 years of daily trimming.
