Wasted $120 on a deluxe version of a game that had a rulebook that made no sense
I bought the fancy kickstarter edition of 'Galactic Rift' last summer for 120 bucks because the box art was amazing and it promised all these cool miniatures. But the rulebook was so badly written that my group spent 3 hours trying to figure out how to even start a basic game. Has anyone else burned money on a game that looked great but played terribly?

That exact thing happened to me with a game called 'Siege of the Citadel' last year. Paid a ton for the deluxe box and the rulebook was basically a mess of typos and skipped steps, had to watch three different YouTube tutorials just to understand movement. Best thing I did was find the official FAQ on their website and a fan-made rewritten rulebook on BGG that explained everything clearly. Before you give up on it completely, check the boardgamegeek forums for player aids or rewritten rules, sometimes the community does a better job than the actual publisher.
