Warning: That board game cafe in Portland wrecked my collection

I went to this new board game cafe in Portland last month called The Meeple Spot. They had a shelf of games you could swap, so I left my copy of Brass Birmingham there thinking it would be safe. Four days later I went back and someone had taken it, but the cafe staff said they aren't responsible for trades. Now I check every game I bring anywhere with a sticker that has my name and phone number on it. Has anyone else had games disappear at public events or cafes like this?

Learned that lesson the hard way at a church rummage sale years ago. Brought in a stack of old puzzles and left them on the swap table, came back twenty minutes later and some kid had already walked off with a vintage birdhouse kit I meant to keep. Now I'm paranoid about leaving anything unattended anywhere.

Man, I gotta disagree a bit here lol. I get that it sucks losing a game, but the cafe probably can't babysit every single item people leave on a swap shelf. @taragrant I think your story actually proves the point - stuff left unattended in a public space is gonna get grabbed regardless of where it is.
