Two weeks on a broken scoring track, then I found the issue

I was setting up a new game night with my group in Portland, and the score track on my copy of a worker placement game kept sliding out of sync. Every round I'd double check the numbers, and they'd be off by a few points, so we'd stop and recount. It took me two full weeks of solo testing to realize the cardboard insert had a small lip that was catching the player markers. I trimmed it down with a hobby knife in 5 minutes and now it runs smooth. Has anyone else had a production defect that drove them crazy before the fix?

Has anyone else ever spent way more time hunting a boring issue than the actual fix took? Honestly, this reminds me of when my game shelf wobbled for months. I kept putting cardboard under one leg until I realized the shelf itself was slightly warped, not the floor. Tbh, I flipped the whole shelf upside down and it was a tiny plastic peg that had snapped off. Ngl, I felt like a detective but also a total clown when I just glued a magnet on there in 2 minutes. It drives me nuts how such a tiny thing can mess up the whole vibe, you know?
