TIL a 3-hour game of Twilight Imperium is actually possible...

I always thought that game was a joke. People said it takes 8 hours minimum. Then my buddy Mark set up a game at his place in Portland and we finished in 3 hours and 20 minutes. He had everyone read the rules ahead of time and used a timer for each turn. It was actually fun and not a slog. Has anyone else found a way to speed up those big games without losing the strategy?

Nah a 3 hour game of TI is totally doable if everyone pre-reads the rules and plays fast. My group did it in 3.5 once with timers and no table talk.

Mark's timer trick worked for us in Seattle, 3.5 hours flat with zero table talk.
