Rant: Arguing over rules made me shift how we start game night
I used to dive right into new games without explaining things. After a big fight about scoring in our last session, I now take five minutes to go over the basics. It really helps everyone get on the same page.

Why did it take a fight to see the light? Your new method is a total game-changer. I learned this when we argued for an hour over a move in Catan. Now I always do a quick rule rundown first, which saves time and keeps things fun. Everyone gets to play instead of fighting, and people can ask questions early. Those five minutes are worth it to avoid another scoring showdown.
