My wife said our game nights are more about rules than fun
She pointed out that I spent 45 minutes explaining the setup for our new eurogame, and the whole table looked bored. I realized I was focusing on the mechanics instead of the experience. Do you ever worry about being too technical?

Focus on the fun, man, the rules will come later.

What's the actual goal of game night for you?

I used to be all about the strategy and winning, you know? Like I'd bring out my heavy board games and get annoyed if someone made a mistake on their turn. But then a friend brought over this silly party game called "Bunny Bunny Moose Moose" and we spent two hours laughing so hard we couldn't breathe. The rules barely mattered, people were making up their own sounds, and nobody even kept score. That night totally changed my thinking for game night, now it's about making memories and inside jokes rather than proving who's the smartest at the table.
