My group's 2016 copy of Catan finally gave out during last Friday's game

The border fell apart when we unfolded the board, and I realized it was from us always stuffing it back in the box without sorting the pieces first.

Used a big binder clip on the split corner for a few games before I finally glued it back down with basic wood glue. Let it dry overnight and it held up fine for another year of play. That border gets beat up easy, a little glue and patience goes a LONG way.

Oh man, @wadeowens is totally right about that binder clip trick! I did the exact same thing with my copy, except I used a paperclip that I bent flat against the split (looked janky but worked fine). I finally glued mine with basic super glue a couple years ago and it's held up through dozens of games with no issues at all. The border on those old Catan boards really is the weak point, especially when you're cramming it back in the box with all those roads and settlements bouncing around. Honestly a little bit of glue and some common sense goes so much further than people think with board game repairs.
