My buddy bet me $20 I couldn't win Catan without ever trading, and the robber got real personal
Last Saturday at game night in my friend Dave's basement in Akron, I took that bet and went full hermit on a wood and brick start. Four hours later I had the longest road, three sheep ports nobody wanted, and Dave flipping resource cards at my face while everyone at the table refused to trade with me out of spite. What I did not expect was how much the robber card changes when you are the only player at the table giving out free advice to the leader. We ended the night with me up $20 and a new house rule: no side bets on a game that already runs past midnight. Has anyone else tried a no-trade run, and did your group gang up on you the same way?
