I spent 2 years sorting my cards by color and a guy at PAX Unplugged wrecked my system in 5 minutes
I always thought color coding my whole collection was the smart move, so every game got sorted red, blue, green no matter what. Then at PAX Unplugged in Philly back in December this guy watched me set up and asked why I was hunting for a single card in a sea of the same color. He said he sorts by card type first and only uses color as a tiebreaker, and I tried it on one game that night and setup dropped from about 20 minutes to maybe 6. I went home and redid my 14 big box games that way and it's been night and day. Now I'm wondering what else I've been doing out of habit, so how do you all sort games with a ton of tiny decks?
