I finally tried the dice tower trick for my Catan group and it actually fixed our trade fights
So my Wednesday night group has been playing Settlers of Catan for about 3 months now, and we kept getting into these dumb arguments about whether someone was shaking the dice too much or "accidentally" knocking them off the table when a bad roll came up. Two guys almost quit over it, which sounds stupid but here we are. I read somewhere that you can just build a cheap dice tower out of cardboard and painters tape for like $2, and it takes the human element out completely. I built one last Tuesday, tested it with 20 rolls, and brought it to game night. The whole vibe changed. No more grabbing dice, no more re-rolls, no more side eye. We got through a full game in 90 minutes instead of 2 and a half hours. I want to build a nicer one out of foam core now, so does anyone have plans they like, or a favorite material that doesn't scuff up the dice?
