I finally checked out that board game cafe in Austin last weekend

The place was packed and I noticed almost every table was playing some heavy euro game, not the casual stuff I expected. There was this one group arguing for 20 minutes over a single move in Terraforming Mars. Has anyone else seen a board game cafe lean that hard into complex games?

Figure out if the Terraforming Mars group was just really into it or if they were being straight up jerks. I'm curious if the staff there ever steps in when arguments get that heated, or if they just let it play out.

Man I've seen that Terraforming Mars crew get into it before. One time I was at a con and watched two guys almost flip the table over a disagreement about what counts as a valid tile placement. The staff just stood there like statues, didn't say a word until someone's drink got knocked over. Then they came over and cleaned it up but still didn't address the argument. It's weird how serious people get about that game. Makes me think they treat it like it's real life or something.
