Friend pointed out my game group has too much table talk

He said we spend 40 minutes debating pizza toppings before even rolling a single die. Has anyone else had to cut down chatter just to finish a full game night?

40 minutes on pizza toppings does sound like a lot, but table talk can actually be part of the fun if the group's into it. The real trick is figuring out if people are okay with slower games or if they'd rather push through and save the chatter for breaks. Maybe try setting a timer for pre-game talk so everyone knows when dice actually need to start rolling.

Totally get where you're coming from though, lol. 40 minutes on toppings is rough if you're the one who's starving and ready to eat, right? I've definitely sat through long talks about which Taco Bell sauce is superior when all I wanted was to roll initiative. A timer actually sounds like a decent middle ground, kind of like a hard limit for chit chat before the real game kicks off. It's nice when someone just says "okay, we're doing this now" so nobody feels bad about cutting off the banter.
