Took me 2 and a half months to get one line fixed on my daughter's original birth certificate
The state office in Lansing kept mailing my form back because the notary stamp was 1/8 inch too close to the edge. I finally drove down there in person last Tuesday and a clerk fixed it in about 10 minutes. Has anyone else had a county give them a hard time over papers like this, or is it just Michigan?

The notary stamp being 1/8 inch too close to the edge is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I had the same kind of mess in Ohio when I needed a death certificate corrected, they sent it back three times over stuff like the date being written in blue ink instead of black. Drove to Columbus myself and the lady at the desk fixed the whole thing in five minutes, so I don't think it's just Michigan, it's every county office that gets off on making you jump through hoops.
