Shoutout to the birth mom who spoke at my support group in Austin last month

I mean, I keep seeing people online talk about us like we all feel the same way, like it's just one big sad story. But this woman, she placed her daughter 15 years ago and she was talking about how proud she is of her kid's soccer wins. She showed us a picture from the family's holiday card. It wasn't about the grief that day, it was about this quiet joy she carries. It made me realize how often other folks get it wrong, thinking our whole identity is stuck in that one hard choice. For me, placing my son 8 years ago was the start of a really complicated life, not the end of it. I have a career now, I got married last year, and I still get updates. Does anyone else feel like people don't see the full picture of your life after placement?

Wait, she gets holiday cards? That's actually amazing. People really do miss the whole story. Your post shows how much more there is.

Amazing" feels like a strong word for just getting cards.
