Rant: I finally get why my daughter's mom stopped sending me updates, and it was my fault
I used to wait by my phone every Sunday for the text with new pictures. It stopped about 5 months ago and I told everyone it was her being cold, that they probably just wanted to close the door on me. Then last Tuesday I was cleaning out my truck and found a stack of the little cards I'd been sending. Every single one said the same thing: 'Hope all is good, thinking of you.' Nothing about her. Nothing about the kid I carried. It hit me that for a year I'd been asking for updates like she was a customer service line and I never once asked how the baby was sleeping or if she liked the sound of my voice. I read one of my own texts from February and I sounded like a stranger filling out a form. So if you're sitting there mad that the updates dried up, go back and read what you actually wrote. What did you say the last time you reached out?
