My sister said something about my birth mom that stuck with me
We were cleaning out our mom's attic last Saturday and my sister found an old photo of our birth mom from 1992. She pointed at it and said "she looks tired, not sad like I always pictured." That hit different because I always imagined her as this tragic figure, but the photo just showed a regular woman who looked exhausted. My sister said maybe she was just trying to get through a hard day like anyone else. Has anyone else had a family member say something that totally flipped how you saw your birth mom?

That sister of yours hit on something real. Tired is different from sad but both can look the same in a photo if you're not paying attention. Sometimes the most human thing we can do is just be worn out from life, not broken by it. It makes you wonder how many other stories we've been telling ourselves needed a closer look at the details.
