My aunt swore I could induce labor by eating spicy Thai food 3 days overdue

I was 41 weeks pregnant and miserable in Phoenix last August. My aunt calls me and says "eat the spiciest Pad Thai you can find, that'll get the baby moving." So I go to this little place on 7th Street and order a 5 star level. I'm sweating, crying, chugging water. Nothing happens except I get heartburn so bad I end up in urgent care at 2am. Baby finally showed up 4 days later naturally. So her advice was wrong but at least I got a good story out of it. Has anyone else had a family member give them some weird birth labor tip that totally backfired?

Wait did you actually get checked out at urgent care for the heartburn or was it something worse? I'm curious if they gave you anything for it or just told you to ride it out. Also was the Pad Thai at least good enough to be worth the pain before the heartburn hit?
