Just hit the 10 year mark since placement day and it hit me different
I was scrolling through old photos on my phone last night and saw the date stamp. October 12, 2014. That was the day I signed the papers and handed my daughter over to her adoptive parents. I didn't even realize it was a decade until I did the math in my head. It felt like 10 years of holding my breath and someone finally let me exhale. Has anyone else had a milestone anniversary sneak up on them like that?

Is it really that deep after ten full years though? People make these life changes and move on, sometimes the meaning we assign to anniversaries is more about us than the actual event.

Stella, the felt tip at ten years hit me hard too, so I started a journal just for anniversary dates to let those feelings out.
