Had a talk with my aunt last weekend that really shifted how I see open adoption

She said she never felt like a real mom because the birth mom picked the name and she just had to go along with it, and I never thought about how that small thing could sting for years, has anyone else's family member admitted something like that out of nowhere?

Oh GREAT, so now adoptive parents are gatekeeping BABY NAMES too? Like "sorry Aunt Karen, you can't pick the name because you didn't push a watermelon out of your body first." Bet she also complained about not getting to pick the kid's middle name and what brand of diapers to use. Next thing you know birth moms will be expected to hand over naming rights along with the hospital bracelet and the umbilical cord stump. Tell your aunt to take a NUMBER and get in line behind every stepmom who ever had to deal with a kid named after the ex-wife's grandmother.
