Found out that 1 in 10 birth mothers don't get to hold their baby after delivery
I was reading a study from the Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute last night and that statistic really hit me hard, has anyone else come across numbers like that that just stop you in your tracks?

That statistic really got to me too when I first read it. When my sister had her baby she couldn't hold him right away because he was having trouble breathing, and I remember just watching the clock tick by and feeling so helpless. The nurses were amazing though, they let her touch his hand and talked her through everything step by step. It was maybe 45 minutes before she finally got to hold him, but those 45 minutes felt like forever. I think sometimes we don't realize how much that first hold matters until something gets in the way.
