Found out 63% of birth mothers never get a follow-up call from their adoption agency
I read that statistic in a report from the National Council For Adoption last night and it made me realize how much the system fails women after they place a child.

Did you know some agencies don't even have a protocol for checking in? My friend Chloe placed her baby three years ago and the agency called her ONCE a week later to confirm the paperwork went through. That was it. No therapist referral, no support group info, nothing. She still has the voicemail saved on her phone because it's literally the only contact she ever got from them.

$500 says that agency billed Chloe's insurance for "post-placement counseling services" that never happened. I've seen that exact thing with a buddy who's a social worker. Some agencies treat the whole thing like a transaction, not a person. The voicemail thing hits different when you realize Chloe probably saved it because that call was the only proof the agency even remembered she existed after they got what they wanted.
