Finding a way to talk to my son about his adoption story
I mean, my son is 7 now and he started asking more specific questions about his birth mom, like where she lived and what her favorite color was. I got really nervous because I didn't want to mess it up, so I bought this book called 'A Mother for Choco' and we read it together before bed. It opened up a whole conversation about families being built in different ways. Has anyone else found a good book or a specific moment that helped explain things to a younger kid?

I think that book is actually called 'A Mother for Choco'? But yeah, using books to start the talk is a great idea.

Wait wait wait... you're telling me it's NOT called "A Mother for Choco"? I literally bought that book last week for my niece and the whole time I've been calling it "Are You My Mother" because my mom had the old one... I can't believe I mixed them up like that. That's kind of embarrassing actually. But yeah, books are such a gentle way to bring up touchy topics with kids. My sister used "The Family Book" with her kids and it opened up all kinds of conversations they weren't having before.
