Appreciation post: the librarian who saved my reunion letter

I was sitting in the public library downtown last July, shaking over a draft letter to my birth mom I couldn't finish. A librarian named Carol walked past and asked if I was okay. She didn't pry, just said "sometimes the first words are the hardest, start with 'I'm okay' and go from there." I went with that and mailed it the next day. Has anyone else had a random stranger say the exact thing you needed to hear?

July is a weird month to sit in a library, but Carol sounds like a real one.

Forgot my headphones that day and ended up listening to some guy practice his bagpipes in the parking lot for an hour.
